Nikcarl Skate School hosted an exciting and educational event for its young skaters, a Nature Skate at the scenic Burgess Park. The children were given nature-themed worksheets, much like a scavenger hunt, where they had to find and identify various plants and animals in the park. Their task included spotting a chestnut conker tree, a mute swan, squirrels, butterflies, and even an Egyptian goose.
Burgess Park, rich in both natural beauty and history, provided the perfect backdrop for this adventure. The park is home to a diverse range of wildlife and historical sculptures, including the 'Silent Raid,' which commemorates the lost houses of Burgess Park’s past.
The event began with Mister Mckenzie gathering the group of children to review the map of Burgess Park and plan their route
With the route decided, the skaters eagerly set off on their nature-filled journey.
Equipped with their worksheets, the children sat in the park, working together to name and tick off their findings
Along the way, Mister. Mckenzie assisted one skater girl as they tried to identify a duck they had spotted.
As they continued their adventure, the skater kids remained mindful of others on the path, smoothly navigating the park while searching for items on their lists.
A highlight of the journey was discovering the 'Silent Raid' memorial, where the group
paused to reflect on Burgess Park’s history, before moving on to admire the "Birds of Burgess Park" sculpture.
After a short break, the nature skate concluded, with the children feeling accomplished and happy. They had not only improved their skating skills but also learned about the natural and historical treasures of Burgess Park.
Nikcarl Skate School’s Nature Skate was a resounding success, blending skating with adventure and education. Keep an eye out for their next exciting event!
