Role Description
As the Assistant Skating Instructor at the Nikcarl Skate Club in London, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless and enjoyable experience for children, parents, and all visitors. We are seeking an individual who is personable, organised, and committed to delivering a positive experience for all participants in our skating sessions. Your meticulous attention to detail and dedication to safety will significantly contribute to the overall success of our establishment.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
Instructional Support
Assist skating instructors in providing guidance and support to children during skating sessions, ensuring their safety and enjoyment.
Equipment Assistance
Assist children in wearing and adjusting their skating gear, ensuring a snug and secure fit for a comfortable experience.
Equipment Management
Assist in the organisation and maintenance of skating equipment, including skates, safety gear, and other essential items, ensuring accessibility and orderliness.
Setup and Clean-up
Aid in the setup of the skating area before sessions and events, and efficiently clean and store equipment post-use, maintaining cleanliness and tidiness.
Customer Interaction
Welcome children, parents, and visitors with warmth and positivity, offering assistance and guidance as needed, enhancing their overall experience.
Safety Oversight
Uphold safety protocols and assist in their enforcement to create a secure and protected skating environment for all participants.
Communication
Collaborate effectively with skating instructors and fellow staff members, facilitating smooth coordination of activities and addressing any arising concerns promptly.
Customer Engagement
Engage with children and parents, fostering a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, and nurturing a sense of community within our skating family.
Requirements
- Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for safety
- Friendly and approachable demeanour, with excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
- Basic knowledge of roller skating and inline skating equipment is advantageous
Salary
This position provides an hourly wage that varies based on age and level of experience, ranging from £7.55 to £12.00.

Role Overview
The Junior Skate Helper program is designed for enthusiastic 13–15-year-olds who love skating and want to develop leadership skills while assisting our instructors during lessons and events.
This is a supervised, light work role approved under local council child employment rules. Helpers will support in fun, safe, and educational ways, always under adult supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Assist instructors with setting up and tidying away skate equipment.
Greet students and help younger skaters feel welcome.
Demonstrate beginner techniques under supervision (optional).
Help maintain a clean and safe skating area.
Support in creative activities, such as helping design class posters or challenges.

Working Hours (in line with UK law)
During Term Time:
Maximum 12 hours per week
No more than 2 hours on school days
No more than 5 hours on Saturdays
During School Holidays:
Maximum 25 hours per week
No more than 5 hours on weekdays or Saturdays
No work will take place before 7:00am or after 7:00pm.
Pay and Benefits
Pay: £5.00 per hour (above typical council “light work” minimums for 13-15 year-olds)

Certificate of Achievement each term
Free entry to one special social skate event per term
Reference letter upon completion of the program
Requirements
Must be 13 years or older
Parental consent is required
Must demonstrate a positive attitude, reliability, and enthusiasm for skating
