"In May 2020 I saw first-hand the joy skating outdoors brought to people during the pandemic and was eager to enable other children to enjoy it as well. The pandemic had disrupted the usual school and fun activities they attended, and I frequently observed parents with children struggling on skates in Burgess Park. This led to me holding my first free skate Saturday lesson in June 2020. The parent I approached was keen for me to teach their child on a regular basis. Other people passing in the park would stop to watch lessons, enquire and sign up their children for future lessons. As interest grew, the Nikcarl Skate Club was formed and has become the skating club that it is today"
